Michelle's Priorities

Public Safety

As your councilmember, maintaining and supporting strong funding and resources for public safety and investing in law enforcement and community policing is my top priority. Together, with colleagues and stakeholders, we keep La Mirada safe by lowering the crime rates and promoting our Safe Pace campaign.

Coming from a law enforcement family and a lineage of veterans, I have deep respect and honor for those who serve and protect. I understand the importance of highlighting the great work of our public safety and law enforcement. I am your voice, your neighbor, and your advocate for our beautiful community, ensuring La Mirada stays on the nation's safest cities list.

Family Values

Centering family values and the La Mirada small-town feel, drives the work I do as your councilwoman. Every family should have access to child care, athletic facilities, green spaces, and basic needs. Maintaining communication with Interfaith Food Center, Meals on Wheels, and other organizations serving seniors and families, informs the strategic actions I have taken for the community.

My husband and I bought our first family home in our beloved city of La Mirada, the same city where my grandfather bought his first home in 1959 with his G.I. bill. We wanted to live in the city that made me feel safe, seen, and empowered as a girl. I have fond memories of childhood in La Mirada--dancing, cheering for La Mirada youth sports, and celebrating 4th of July events, football games, and even the Olympic torch passing through Rosecrans Boulevard. This is the small-town, family-like community I am commited to preserving.

Collaborative Leadership

Working in partnership with colleagues, local organizations, and businesses in my role as your current La Mirada City Council, District 2 member, I ensure that all residents' needs and interests are met. As your La Mirada servant leader, I commit to ensuring every La Mirada resident benefits from strong, meaningful community programs that enrich our shared quality of life.

I take great pride in championing unity for our community. As an educator and the first Latina woman to serve on La Mirada City Council, I am committed to representing every voice at the decision-making table and to communicating the City's policies and priorities to all who call La Mirada home.
